Biography

I am a fine artist and illustrator, living and working in Stoke-on-Trent. I am a graduate of Nottingham Trent University's MA Fine Art course, having graduated from their undergraduate course, with a BA (Hons).

Since graduating in 2009, I have been developing my novel drawing technique of "Human Printing", with each image taking hundreds of hours to complete. I have utilised this method within the context of comic strips, buiding upon it and moving it into a more multi-disciplinary space. Blurring the lines between comic art, fine art and prospectively ceramics. This has largely been a result of moving back to Stoke and exploring the contextual links between my practice and the craft and processes that are inherent to the cities indigenous industry; the Potteries.

Throughout 2014, I established a studio space within the main production facility of the former Spode factory, producing a multi-year project called "Stoke Without. . .", culminating with a solo exhibition of the first section of the comic on the site. The three-part project when finished will take the form of a ceramic comic strip, presented on tiles, that will encircle the perimeter of the factory site. Each section will explore the decline, heritage and renewal of Spode and the city.
